This position is for someone who thrives in a fast paced environment, has retail experience, has a passion for community, and a readiness to dive into needlepoint.

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Retail Store Manager who loves needlepoint, thrives in a busy, fast-paced environment, and is passionate about delivering exceptional customer experiences. This full-time role will oversee daily store operations, lead front-of-house retail activities, manage inventory, and support the continued growth of our business.

The ideal candidate is organized, energetic, community-minded, and excited to be part of a creative and colorful environment. This is a full-time (40 hours per week) leadership position.

Key Responsibilities

Customer Experience

  • Oversee all daily shop operations and be an in-shop lead
  • Ensure exceptional, personalized customer service
  • Create an inviting, inspiring, and well-merchandised store environment
  • Contribute ideas and energy to help grow a quickly expanding business

Inventory & Operations

  • Maintain and manage in shop inventory
  • Track best selling products and proactively restock
  • Oversee receiving, backend POS operations, restocking and organizing merchandise
  • Monitor sales performance and support growth initiatives

Community Growth

  • Help to plan and follow through with in-store events and workshops to partnerships and gatherings throughout the greater Portland, ME area
  • Facilitate weekly stitch clubs
  • Imagine and implement creative ways to bring people together through needlepoint helping Mopsey Shop continue to be a joyful hub for connection

Team Operations

  • Support staff scheduling, training, and team development
  • Foster a positive, collaborative and motivated team
  • Help to keep communication clear between team members

Qualifications

  • Retail management experience required
  • Strong leadership and team-building skills
  • Ability to thrive in a busy, fast-paced retail environment
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Detail-oriented with strong follow-through
  • Passion for community engagement and customer connection
  • Interest in needlepoint

Schedule & Compensation
